Community Relations

Although a large portion of military operations occur in secluded or isolated locations, military commanders must not forget that their bases are part of a surrounding community. Restricted training or operating areas may help keep military members out of the public’s view, but our ships sail past coastal communities with restaurants, beaches, and boardwalks. Our jets and helicopters fly over downtown business centers, schools, and neighborhoods. Convoys of military equipment roll down our highways. When the public sees this military equipment pass them by, their opinion of the military will instinctively come to mind.
