5.4 Quality criteria
What are quality criteria? To ensure that quality is built into a product the level of quality required has to be specified at the beginning, before the product is developed. In Chapter 2, the concept of a product description was introduced. Each product description has the same structure and includes a section headed quality criteria. The accurate completion of this section will enable project team staff later on in the development cycle to determine whether the product is fit for purpose, by checking it meets the quality criteria specified.
In order to achieve this, the criteria themselves have to have three qualities:
They must be specific.
They must be measurable.
They must be achievable.
