3.4 Applying control
There is no point in monitoring unless control is going to be applied. This is done through the process of the reporting cycle. What normally happens is that the monitoring processes described above identify some shortfalls in the progress of the project. To remedy shortfalls, control needs to be applied to the project to bring it back on course. For example, staff may be transferred from non-critical work to critical activities that have fallen behind.
