1.2 Successful projects
To be successful, a project should meet the following criteria:
It should enable the stated objectives to be achieved.
It should be delivered on time.
It should be delivered within budget.
It should deliver a system that performs to agreed specifications, including those relating to quality.
It should provide value for money — bearing in mind that different organizations will have different perceptions of what constitutes ‘value’.
It should satisfy the project sponsor and other interested parties.
In summary, this means developing the project at a specified cost, within a specified time, to meet a specified business requirement. These three specifications are closely linked and any change to one will affect the others.
