For most of this book, we assume you’re using the most current Ruby version, which is version 3.3. With a couple of exceptions, we don’t specify when particular features were added to Ruby, as we find that makes the main text more confusing.
This appendix covers changes to Ruby that involve features that are mentioned in this book. There are many more changes in each version, many having to do with core library and gem methods that aren’t covered here. Ruby’s documentation[63] contains a listing of what was added to each version since 1.8.7. The Ruby Evolution site,[64] maintained by Victor Shepelev, contains more details about the changes.
