Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is a communications platform that provides all the support you need to build distributed, service-oriented solutions in the .NET Framework. Microsoft first introduced WCF in late 2006 as part of the .NET Framework 3.0 release. Since then, WCF has established itself as a cornerstone of the framework, and is regarded today as the de facto solution for building any kind of service in .NET.
