This chapter explores the fundamental capabilities of the HoloLens apps. You will investigate input methods based on gaze, voice commands, and gestures. Then, you will learn how to use spatial mapping to create holograms that can interact with the real environment. Along the way you will also learn how to use the Mixed Reality Toolkit package for Unity to speed up mixed-reality development with prefabs. Most of the topics presented in this chapter (including gestures and spatial mapping) are related to HoloLens only because only that headset is equipped with sensors that understand the environment.
