ColdFusion tags are the core components of the CFML language. They take what would otherwise be considered low-level programming tasks, such as making an ODBC/JDBC or SMTP connection, and abstract them, providing a simple way to program complex functionality. ColdFusion contains over 90 tags that allow you to perform all sorts of tasks, from querying databases to sending and receiving email. This appendix contains reference material on all ColdFusion tags through ColdFusion MX.
