The rationale for the book
This co-edited book aims to fill a significant gap on professions and professional service firms in the enterprise context in the literature. There are many texts on enterprises in the private and public sector, as defined in terms of business organisation – from the book by Carter and Jones-Evans (2006) on Enterprise and Small Businesses to that of Lam (2014) on Enterprise Risk Management. The relationship between professions and professional service firms and enterprise in the global economy, which is often seen to be in tension, is also frequently discussed in standard business studies books, albeit typically only in a few paragraphs. ...
