After we wrote our first book, many standards—including CMMI—changed. Readers would stop us at conferences to ask if we were going to write a revised edition to accommodate those revisions. In the meantime, we worked with several organizations that used more than one framework and saw the need to say something more about that. We decided that in addition to ISO 9001 and CMMI, we needed to consider several of the most “popular” ISO standards: ISO 20000 as well as the two lifecycle standards, ISO 12207 and ISO 15288, which have recently been revised and harmonized.
