Terms to Know
Before we begin, here
are a few terms that are helpful for you to know:
analysis variable
variables used to compute
statistics. Analysis variables are listed in the VAR statement.
classification variable
variables used to define
row or column categories in the table. Classification variables are
listed in the CLASS statement. A classification variable is also referred
to as a class variable.
crossing
the term for applying
one thing (the statistic) to another thing (the variable). The terms nesting and crossing can
be used interchangeably.
dimension
one of the basic elements
of a table, such as a page, column, or row.
nesting
the term for applying
one thing to another thing. The terms nesting and crossing
