IPv6 and DHCP
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is just as much a fundamental service for the Internet to work as DNS (Domain Name System). For IPv6 this means leveraging DHCPv6 to handle IPv6 address allocations. DHCPv6 is the way modern networks allocate IPv6 addresses on a LAN (local area network) and DHCP is what has been traditionally used for IPv4 addresses in the past.
