AC Voltage Controllers and Thyristor-Based Static VAR Compensators
Abstract
AC voltage controllers and ac choppers for different types of loads and different applications, including the Δ-connected and the Y-connected three-phase ac voltage controllers are analyzed in this chapter. Thyristor-based static VAR compensators such as the thyristor-controlled reactor, the thyristor-switched capacitor, and the combination of these two types are then introduced and analyzed. Finally, the characteristics and the operation of the triode for alternate current semiconductor device are presented and analyzed. Solved problems and simulation results are presented to help the reader understand the theory presented in this chapter.
