Chapter 2. HR: A Body of Underlying Knowledge and Principles
Study Strategies
This chapter explores each of the 19 core areas of knowledge. Knowing each area is important, as is knowing how the areas relate to each other, and to the six functional areas of HR identified by HRCI.
Create 19 large index cards (for instance, 8-1/2 by 5-1/2) and write down key notes about each of these functional areas. Ensure that your notes are general enough that they describe or define the core area of knowledge in a way that does not limit it to one or two specific functional areas.
As you review each functional area, create a list of the ways in which each of the core areas of knowledge (as appropriate) applies to that area.
