The word strategy is used in many different ways and generally isn’t precisely understood because of the subtle differences in usage. In its simplest form, strategy might be considered a plan for future resource allocation. The emphasis is on preparation for future situations, and the resources that are within your control are the tools for achieving the desired result. Resources are limited, of course, so a good strategy will also include an effort to optimize your resource allocation to the strategic opportunities and competitive landscape, including determining what you are not going to pursue.
