The paradoxes we discuss in this chapter all involve the dynamics of influence. The major theme that runs through this cluster is action: What do members and the group as a whole do that makes some kind of difference? Were it not for the inevitable association with the theater and the dramaturgical distractions this would produce, we would have labeled this constellation of group processes the Paradoxes of Acting.
