In general, most organizations will begin any subledger accounting modifications with the Mapping Sets, which can take values passed from the transactions being accounted and map them to specific accounts or values. These values can then, in turn, be used when creating the account numbers. Whereas Chapter 13 was background information for most companies, the information presented in this chapter will help you understand exactly how an account number is derived for the subledger accounting entries.
