With Exadata X2, Oracle introduced Flash Cache on the storage cells, not only to help with reads by caching frequently accessed data but to help with log writing as well (Flash Logging, available with 11.2.2.4 Storage Software). The X2 had a total of 5.3TB of flash cache in a full rack.
