I’ve been working with the Oracle software since 1987, when version 5.1.5c could be bought out of the back of a magazine for $99 USD. Oracle shipped you a box of 5¼ floppy disks with every technology they had at the time. That would have been Forms, Reports, SQL*Net, and, of course, the database.
A lot has changed in the intervening years with the addition of versions 6, 7, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8.0, 8iR1, 8iR2, 8iR3, 9iR1, 9iR2, 10gR1, 10gR2, 11gR1, 11gR2, and now Oracle Database 12c Release 1. That is 16 major releases in 25 years, about one new release every one and a half years. It certainly has kept it interesting.
