New Features in Oracle Database 10g Release 2
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 promises quite a few additions for SQL tuning. For example, the OEM has been enhanced to provide a better user experience and to expose more powerful features of the SQL Access Advisor. Recommendation and action implementation statuses are now available. In addition, SQL Access Advisor will be able to recommend function-based indexes. SQL profiles have also been enhanced to match SQL text with literal values by normalizing them into bind variables. As well, SQL profiles and SQL tuning sets are transportable across databases so you can easily test production scenarios in development instances.
