- call attachment facility (CAF)
A DB2 attachment facility for application programs that run in TSO or z/OS batch. The CAF is an alternative to the DSN command processor and provides greater control over the execution environment.

A callable application programming interface (API) for database access, which is an alternative to using embedded SQL. In contrast to embedded SQL, DB2 ODBC (which is based on the CLI architecture) does not require the user to precompile or bind applications, but instead provides a standard set of functions to process SQL statements and related services at run time.
