9.1 Introduction of DC Microgrids

In recent years, both academia and industry take great interest in DC microgrids. As a kind of small-scale DC power distribution system, it provides a feasible and effective platform to integrate renewable energy sources (RESs), energy storage systems (ESSs) and different kinds of loads. Compared with AC microgrids, DC microgrids behave relatively simple topological structure, less energy conversion process, etc. Moreover, the regulations of reactive power/frequency are no longer demanded.
