Properties of Materials

The properties of materials can vary considerably, especially for wood and plastic. The values listed in the table in this appendix have been obtained from a variety of sources, including Simonds and Ellis (1943); Eldridge (1974); Levy (2001); Lyman (1961); Green et al. (1999). The data vary significantly between different sources for plastics and wood and sometimes even for metals; however, the values listed in this appendix reflect those most commonly found.
