Having examined the origins and evolution of photographing at night, let’s begin to explore the practical side of night photography. In this chapter, we will look at the tools and talk about how they relate to the processes and challenges of night photography. Although the selection of cameras, lenses, tripods, and other gear is mostly a matter of personal choice, a brief discussion of the essential night photographer’s tool kit is presented to help the reader make informed decisions about equipment choices.
