Introduction
The relationship between the Chair and the CEO is the most important within a company. While the CEO runs the show, the Chair, with his board, selects and supervises the CEO and decides upon her remuneration (in some countries, subject to the General Assembly’s approval). Whether the Chair or the entire board is the CEO’s boss is disputed in literature and practice.
