14.3. Manuals
The basic engineering designer should prepare the following preliminary manuals if required by the company. Each manual should be provided in an individual bound volume apart from the BEDP.
• Operating manual
The operating manual should include an outline of start-up, shut-down, and alternative operations. It should also indicate emergency procedures covering utility failures and major operating upsets. In addition, all safety procedures, catalyst regeneration instructions, and process descriptions in all operation modes should be included. This operating manual should be reviewed and revised/completed at the end of the detail design phase.
• Laboratory manual
The laboratory manual should include the following:
