Chapter 2. Becoming a Specialized Generalist
In Chapter 1, I described the problems faced by everyone working in modern organizations. In this chapter, I introduce the first key element in moving up the value chain: becoming a specialist while also rounding out your other skills. Put the two of these together and you become what I call a specialized generalist. By electing to broaden your skill set, you can start to effectively counteract the problem of the narrow context of most jobs.
