Chapter 6. Creating Frames
The basic elements of an InDesign page are the same as they are in a QuarkXPress or PageMaker page—boxes, lines and text paths. But since you’re now working in a new “country,” you have to learn the language of your new land, which is a little different than the kingdom you know.
Understanding the Lingo
InDesign calls the basic elements of a page frames. In PageMaker, when working with text and graphics, using frames is optional, but in InDesign they’re required. As in XPress, frames (called boxes in XPress) are used as the container for text or graphics, or they may have no content at all.
