Glossary
1080p | The most common resolution that is considered “high definition.” Primarily used for Blu-Ray disc authoring and digital delivery of film and TV content. |
120Hz Overdrive | A refresh rate common in modern high-definition television sets. Film content is typically shot at 24 frames per second, while television content is shot at 30 fps. To be able to play back both types of material without performing a pull-down, 120 Hz (akin to fps) was utilized. It is the lowest refresh rate that divides evenly into both 24 and 30. “Overdrive” is a marketing term and has no real added value. |
2-pop | Method of marking the head of a reel to synchronize a soundtrack; placement of audio and visual cue two seconds before first frame of picture. |
