Abstract:
This chapter deals with the basic definitions and parameters of the milling operation, currently the most important of the chip removal techniques due to its versatility in manufacturing complex and precise geometries. In this chapter, the basic aspects of tool and machining operations are presented, along with the basic cutting parameters to define the operation. Section 3.1 is devoted to presenting the current developments in milling modelling and the recent advances in this field.
