Modern Lens Design has several primary aims. The text contains extensive discussions of the principles and design techniques, which are appropriate to design work with a modern automatic lens design computer program. It is effectively a compendium of the many design techniques available to lens designers today. It is also a prescription source book for a variety of already designed lens types; these serve the dual purpose of providing starting points for the lens designer’s efforts and also providing a basis for discussions of the application of many of the classic lens design principles.
