Chapter 9. ASSESSING THE WHOLE CANDIDATE
Having asked candidates to jump a few low hurdles in prescreening, we now need to review them against the qualifications that drive hiring decisions. Some think it's all about candidate sourcing, but that's only the beginning. Good sourcing generates volume, builds a healthy pool, and attracts people in whom the company might have interest. But the most creative or high-tech recruiting and sourcing tools do little to distinguish among candidates. Done well, they're a good first step, but if the assessment stage of the process is poorly executed, candidates who truly possess what recruiters are looking for can be overlooked.
