Preface
The ever-expanding growth of bandwidth-hungry applications among smartphone users has prompted researchers across the planet to redesign the existing commercial 4G ecosystem to be compliant with future high bandwidth applications. Since, the sub-6 GHz bands are over-crowded, millimeter wave carrier frequencies seem to be one of the promising candidates to ease this congestion. After the famous testing campaign results reported by researchers at New York University, the feasibility of millimeter waves being used as carrier frequencies for cellular communication systems for future 5G is becoming closer to reality.
There are several challenges for the design and deployment of commercial transceiver modules operating at 28 GHz and beyond. ...
