Bye, Bye Sidebar—Hello Gadgets

Another minor but notable difference between Vista and Windows 7 is the integration of Windows Sidebar directly into the OS itself. Windows no longer includes a separate Sidebar program. If you want to add a gadget to your desktop, right-click the desktop and select Gadgets, as shown in Figure 1-13.

Even though Sidebar is now integrated into the OS, the Windows 7 gadgets remain the same as the old Windows Vista gadgets. You still have the clock, calendar, CPU/RAM meters, and the rest of the gadgets, although the online selection is still growing.
