The Basic LAN
Now that we’ve discussed hosts, it’s time to turn our attention to networks. We’ve touched on several aspects of network security, including secure protocols, network-based attacks, and so on. We’ve just scratched the surface, and we have even more to cover in terms of securing the network portion of an infrastructure. This chapter discusses network security at a greater depth, focusing on all the different elements of the network that are connected to provide secure communications for networks ranging from the smallest home LANs to a complete enterprise-level network. The chapter is presented in four modules:
