Setting Up Shared Folders
To create a shared folder, you must be logged on as a member of the Administrators, Power Users, or Server Operators group. (After a folder has been shared, however, the share is available to network users no matter who is logged on to your computer—or even when nobody is logged on.) On a computer running Windows 2000, you can create a shared folder at any time. If you're using Windows XP, however, you must first jump through one preliminary hoop.
