Using Automated System Recovery
Those of you coming from earlier versions of Windows (such as Windows 2000/NT) may remember the Emergency Repair Disk feature. In Windows XP, this feature has been replaced by Automated System Recovery (ASR), which works in much the same way.
During the ASR process, the following two actions occur:
A complete backup of your computer's system files and settings.
An ASR floppy disk that can be used to boot your computer in the event of a complete system failure and restore your system settings and files from backup
Backup provides a wizard that makes it very easy to set up the ASR backup and floppy disk. To create an ASR backup and floppy disk, use the following steps:
