Windows Server 2003 provides the best set of troubleshooting tools ever found in a Microsoft operating system. You can use safe mode (à la Windows 98); the Last Known Good Configuration option, which is useful for recovering from registry and driver errors; the Recovery Console, which allows you to fix Windows installations via a special command prompt even if the system won’t boot in safe mode; and a new in-place upgrade ability, which allows you to easily reinstall Windows without being forced to reinstall your applications and reconfigure settings. Windows Server 2003 also provides the Automated System Recovery process that can be used to quickly restore a system from tape backup.
