Similar to Windows XP Professional service packs, Office 2003 Editions service packs typically update the entire product package and represent a new baseline version of the product. Also like Windows XP Professional, Microsoft might release interim updates between Office 2003 Editions service packs. These updates respond to emerging issues such as virus attacks and bug fixes.
