Windows Versions
There are a number of Windows Server versions available that accommodate SQL Server 2005. Each of these systems has its own advantages and limitations. This section provides an overview of the various choices.
Windows 2000
Windows 2000 is available in both an x86 and an Itanium version. Windows 2000 includes many improvements over Windows NT. Advancements include an improved memory management system and improved networking capabilities, as well as improvements in the domain administration and functionality.
