Understanding Sites, Workspaces, Libraries, and Lists
It can be easy to get confused between sites, workspaces, libraries, and lists. Figure 11.1 provides examples of a Windows SharePoint Services site collection residing under a SharePoint Portal Server 2003 portal. A site collection consists of a top-level site, subsites, and the content contained in those sites. In Figure 11.1 there is one top-level site, one subsite, one document workspace, and one meeting workspace. As the legend in Figure 11.1 shows, there are lists and libraries of different types throughout the structure.
