Upgrading Windows SharePoint Services to SharePoint Server
Many organizations upgrade to SharePoint Server from Windows SharePoint Services for search and indexing, Shared Services, and expanded document and business process management. The upgrade process is very painless, and the majority of the decisions are already made for you, based on the type of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 installation you have. If you have installed Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 with the Basic option, you may not upgrade to SharePoint Server 2007 with the Advanced option.
