Exporting External Content Types
Whenever you are creating solutions for SharePoint, you should always start in a development environment to ensure you do not affect data or availability of your production systems.
In this section you are going to export an ECT and import it into another environment to simulate the moving of an ECT from development to test and then to production. A typical example is the creation of an ECT in a test environment using a test data set from your LOB system.
