Styling XSLT List View Web Parts (XLVs)
When you add list and library XSLT List View Web Parts (XLVs) to pages throughout SharePoint 2010 sites, one of the key considerations is in the appearance of those XLVs. SharePoint 2010 has seen a huge improvement over that of styling list view Web parts in SharePoint 2007. XLVs include CSS classes that address styling the actual XLV as opposed to the table or CSS elements surrounding the XLV. For instance, using new CSS styles introduced in SharePoint 2010, you can apply a background color or border to the body or header section of an XLV.
