Page Compatibility, Compliance, and Accessibility
Web standards compliance and accessibility is a frequent concern while designing SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010 sites. Another less frequent concern involves cross-(Web)-browser compatibility. In fact, the latter is something that is unfortunately overlooked with many external or public-facing SharePoint sites. In Chapter 1, “SharePoint 2010 Overview,” I mentioned that SharePoint 2010 has been developed to meet XHTML 1.0 (Strict) compliance and accessibility standards to the level of WCAG 2.0 AA. This is of particular interest if you are designing for an organization, such as a government organization, that is required by law to address accessibility standards.
