This chapter detailed various options for Routing and Remote Access configuration in a corporate network. Windows Server 2003 supports static routing and two dynamic routing protocols for unicast IP routing. RIP is the dynamic routing protocol of choice for smaller to mid-sized networks. It is an easily configured open standard routing protocol available on most systems that support dynamic routing. RIP version 2 supports carrying subnet mask information in the routing updates.
