In the financial services arena, particularly wherever there are traders, respectful personal communication is often sacrificed at the altar of confrontation, competition, and circumstance. Profanity-laced tirades and other forms of brutishness practiced at the level of an art form exist on the trading floor and in the boiler rooms. At other times, there is an air of profound civility in the office.
