Chapter 9. Analytics Tab

Salesforce recently unveiled a new feature, a tab that it calls the Unified Experience for Analytics Home, or the Analytics tab for short. When enabled, it allows users to do everything that they can currently on the Reports and Dashboards tabs, while on a single tab. This includes accessing, creating, and editing your reports, dashboards, report folders, dashboard folder, and related favorites. It also introduces a more intuitive interface with a more powerful search capability and a new way of organizing your reports and dashboards into something called Collections. If your organization has CRM Analytics licenses, then those assets will appear on the tab as well. It truly intends to be a unified home for analytics in Salesforce.

Given that the Analytics tab can do what the Reports and Dashboards tabs each do individually, your system administrator might even consider phasing out the Reports and Dashboards tabs entirely. This may warrant some retraining for users in your system, but would require one less tab across the top of your system’s interface.

Analytics Tab Overview

Your first look at the Analytics tab may make you wonder why it looks so different than any other tab in the system. Salesforce’s user interface designers spent time trying to optimize access to your reports and dashboards, their respective folders, and your related favorites. The key to the tab’s power is your ability to find the things you are looking for.
