DSM Spreadsheet Shows a Plan
A DSM spreadsheet can be organized to show which elements can be done in parallel, which elements must be done in sequence, and which elements are tangled together.
The rows of the DSM spreadsheet in Figure 4.1 can be rearranged so dependencies flow forward down the page. This puts most marks below the diagonal, as shown in Figure 4.2. See the chapters in Part 4 of this book for how we do this.
If there are some elements that depend on one another, it is not possible to order a DSM spreadsheet so all marks are below the diagonal.
