Preface

A business is a network of logical dependencies. Once the links representing dependencies are visualized in a spreadsheet, it can be used to improve the business. This book shows how to visualize these logical dependencies with a square spreadsheet called a dependency structure matrix, or DSM.

The goal of this book is to help develop and maintain logical, adaptable solutions to business problems. The focus is on simple practices and avoiding complex theories. To better help prepare for solving our own problems by ourselves, simple models are used because they are easy to understand.
